On the way to the river a storm was brewing in the sky. Mark wondered if the river would soon overflow, flooding the nearby area. He always wonders that…He wonders if the river is high and flooding the banks or if the river is low enough to where our bottoms would touch the ground floating on it.
We always pray it’s neither.
This time it was perfect. Perfect enough for E to dip her toes into the water for the first time.
Perfect enough for friends to enjoy floating along the slow rapids.
And just the right temperature to make E giddy for a dip in the water.
A river is always a river…yet always changing. The water that flows by is never stagnant, but moving.
Sometimes fast, sometimes just a trickle…but it moves.
There are times in life I move fast, and there are other times life is slow.
But there is much JOY found in this truth…
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit…
– Jeremiah 17:7-8-
Even in times of drought those who are alive in Christ have life.
Already said it.
